With a couple books published this August, I hit a major milestone. I started this work in 2016, was off and on for a few years, and then I re-committed to it in 2020. Very grateful to do this work, to enjoy it, and to get a few shekels for it.

Outside of the booth…
What’s been up in August and September? Travel, travel, travel – and the start of house projects!
- We took an amazing trip to Tanzania in August for a week of safari (game driving) in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Parks. So lucky with what we saw (the Big 5, plus lots of lion cubs) and we were also there for the wildebeest migration across the Mara river! (That’s just a small sample of the migration below – literally hundreds of thousands of those animals all around!)
- Then we spent a week on Zanzibar island, just off the Tanzanian coast. A very different scene from the mainland, so beautiful, and some of the warmest water on the planet (90 degree currents!). This marks my 6th continent (individually and also with my wife) and we just loved the people, the scenery, and the experience. Hope to go back again soon!
- Once back in Northern CA, we rented a houseboat on Lake Shasta and enjoyed one of the final warm weekends up here with another couple and two dogs (who were almost always running around or in the lake) – it’s a fun and relaxing way to enjoy that area and be able to go wherever you want!
- And somewhat less exciting (perhaps for others), but we’ve FINALLY broke ground (literally) on some long-awaited projects around the house: re-sealing our driveway (which probably hasn’t had any maintenance done since it was first put in 20 years ago), and installing a 2500-gallon water tank for our well (many properties up here have them). We’ve only been here a year, but it’s nice to see this finally happening.
