It’s been quite a while since I did a proper update, so I’ll do my best to hit the highlights and also give you plenty of listening options!
A quick look at recent adventures…
The stunning conclusion of the System School series!

With nearly 70 hours and over 100 characters across the entire series, Melvin and Kalli’s cross-galactic tale finally wraps up in the last two volumes: The Accidental Corruption and The Accidental Origin. Sad to see this group go—I probably spent the equivalent of 4 full-time weeks prepping and narrating this series! Thanks to the great folks at Aethon for trusting this one to me.
And a few more great audiobooks recently released…
- Alcatraz Ghost Story: the amazing adventures of the “Smiling Bandit” during the 1920s and ’30s
- But One Life: a dramatic telling of the brief life of Nathan Hale
- The 4 Minute Millionaire: easy and actionable ways every day to re-learn how to grow wealth
- Angelica: murder and mystery shake up a small town in Northern CA – set where I live and written by a local author, a retired judge!

Just Finished – will be out soon!
Strange Timing by J.C. Bruce (Book 6 of The Strange Files)
-Mystery/Satire-
Alexander Strange has an unusual guardian angel — she’s the one who needs protection. Not enough that he’s typing his fingers to the bone covering resurrected triceratops maurading in Miami or that he’s on a quest to find a headless baby Jesus snatched from a Florida megachurch and golf resort.
Now his shipboard mannequin is channeling a woman from the future. Her message: Fly immediately to Portugal, do not stop for Cuba Libres, and save your girlfriend’s life or your guardian angel will also cease to exist.
Check out my narration of book 5 in the series, Mister Manners.
Revisiting 1 year later!
Lots of books celebrating their audio-anniversary, including the Earphones-Winning Rikers, the start of the System School series The Accidental Summoning, and the conclusion of the Lacey James series with Tell Her and Hide Her. Check out samples by clicking the covers.

Outside of the booth…
Suffice to say there’s been a LOT going on since the last update in October. Just a few highlights…

- We visited a new country in March: PORTUGAL! Spending time in Lisbon, Porto, Sintra, the Douro Valley, and a few coastal towns, it was a wonderful trip full of culture, food, and—lucky for us—great weather.
I may have ate my weight in pasteis de nata, the national custard treat that you can find on almost every corner! It’s just amazing all the history out there and how most Americans (including myself) know virtually none of it. Portugal has had quite the amazing journey as a country, even through a tumultuous 20th century.
On another note, I was certainly tempted to consider the whole trip a business expense after narrating STRANGE TIMING, as several events take place in Cascais and Estoril, near Lisbon. 😉 - I’ve also kept up with lots of pickleball, including 4 different “scrambles” in November, December, January, and March—where you play with a different partner in each game. Sometimes did pretty well, other days, I did not. Nature of the game!
I’ve signed up for my first official tournament in June, happening in nearby Mount Shasta. And I’m also involved in developing the official Siskiyou Pickleball website, encompassing info across the entire county and the multiple clubs and places to play. - To round things out, there’s also been a fair amount of hiking, snow-shoeing, visiting family and house projects!
I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to and any other comments you have – leave a note below!
More ahead! Be well and keep in touch!
