A quick look at recent adventures…
RECENTLY RELEASED: TWO MILLION STEPS by Tommy Anderson, a historical novel that involves the 25th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment and General Sherman’s March to the Sea in 1864. Now available!
CURRENTLY NARRATING: THE PERFECT MEDICINE by Brodie Ramin MD for Findaway Audioworks. This book explores the science of running and exercise and provides advice on how to maximize its benefits and be your best self. As a non-runner, it’s been fascinating to learn about running from both the personal and scientific perspectives. I’ve also really paid attention to the INACTIVITY sections and have worked on sitting less throughout the day!
FINISHED READING: The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I finally got back to “fun reading” on a recent vacation (more below) and really enjoyed this book. Great writing with an excellent sense of mystery. And yes, I know I’m a bit late to the party (it’s already a film!).
So to celebrate travel again, we went over to the Big Island of Hawaii. I’d been there before and did MUCH more exploring this time. I actually lived in Pahoa for 6 weeks on an organic farm back in 2010, right after I got rid of everything and become nomadic (but that’s a story for another time…). We did the hike down into the Waipi’o Valley, crossed the river, and walked down the beach. We were at the far point in the photo below right where the cliffs come up (where you can see the surf is the beach). When we got back to the top (no small feat!), this was the view that greeted us. In about 2 miles down, you drop almost 1000 feet!
I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to and any other comments you have – leave a note below!
More ahead! Be well and keep in touch!
