Audio Ventures: HarperCollins, contracts, and Much Ado!

How are you doing with all of this? A month ago we all had a very different kind of life. And now…we’re all kinda living the same life.

It’s pretty amazing everyone is united in this. I have a suspicion we’ll continue to be indoors for a while, and I’m hopeful we can have a “normal” June, but that’s being cautiously optimistic.

I’d love to hear what you’re up to and how you’re staying busy, sane, and healthy during all of this!

Here’s a quick look at recent adventures:

  • BIG NEWS and WIN: in my first book for a major publisher, I narrated How We Change by Ross Ellenhorn for HarperCollins/Audio—the book has a very approachable style and lots of solid info based on decades of clinical work!
  • For the Nonfiction Authors Association, I wrote Part One of a series: “Which audiobook contract is right?”
  • At the beginning of March, I taught my workshop, “Double Your Audience with Audiobooks”, for the San Diego Memoir Writers and then “Public Book Reading” skills to a writing class. Perhaps now, we’ll see “public” Zoom readings!
  • And in a random creative project (because I guess I had the time??), I produced a LIVE online reading of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing with an all-star cast (pic above) of guests from my podcast, including audiobook narrator Ray Porter!
